Brokers serving Ghana compared
Each row shows entry cost and the cost of trading EUR/USD. None of the best forex brokers in Ghana here shows a Ghanaian licence, so the foreign licence behind each one matters. The order is an editorial choice based on mobile money access, entry cost and the strength of the licence.
Filters reorder the list by one measure at a time. Sponsored links open the broker's own site. Local forum favourites will not always appear here, and we have left out names where we could not read reliable data. The legal notes below deserve a careful read before you fund anything.
Cedi entry costs and spreads side by side
This table lines up the numbers that decide most choices. The minimum is the broker's listed floor in dollars, and USD 5 converts to about GH₵ 58 at today's mid-market rate. Your mobile money provider or bank will apply its own rate, and that gap is often the biggest cost a small trader pays.
EUR/USD cost is the all-in figure on a raw account where we have one, or the average spread on a spread-only account. On a 0.01 lot, 1.1 pips costs USD 0.11, about GH₵ 1, per round trip. That is manageable. A 3% conversion loss on USD 100, by contrast, costs USD 3.

Licensed forex brokers in Ghana: the SEC directive
Licensed forex brokers in Ghana are now a live regulatory issue. In Directive Dir/001/06/2026, dated 23 June 2026, the Securities and Exchange Commission told operators of online investment and trading platforms to complete licensing and registration before 31 August 2026. Unapproved platforms must stop operating.
The directive speaks of platforms performing SEC-licensed activities, and it does not name forex or foreign-based brokers. In July 2026, the SEC published a notice listing 23 entities it says operate without a licence. See its public notices page for the current list before you send money, because that deadline has now passed.
The Bank of Ghana keeps a separate list of authorised FX brokers, and those firms deal in interbank currency and not retail CFDs. Many traders confuse that list with retail forex brokers. The central bank has also called unauthorised online foreign exchange trading contrary to the Foreign Exchange Act 2006.

Which broker suits which Ghanaian trader
Our best forex brokers in Ghana each get one reason to choose them and one reason to hesitate. All serve Ghana through a foreign company, as far as we can confirm, so read the name on your agreement. Ghana-specific rails rarely appear in broker documents, so the deposit screen after sign-up has the final word.
Exness offers raw pricing from 0 pips and says over 98% of withdrawals run automatically, a strong point for a trader worried about getting money out. Review data lists a USD 100 minimum on Standard, and Exness says the figure changes by region. Its African licences cover Kenya and South Africa only.
HFM sets no broker minimum on Cent, Zero and Premium accounts, and its Cent account runs on MT4 and MT5 with spreads from 1.4 pips. That makes it a solid first account for a small balance. Ghanaian clients sit with an offshore company, with less cover than Kenyan clients get.
XM lists USD 5, and its live rooms and tracked Tradepedia course help a beginner learn the basics. It charges a USD 10 monthly fee after 90 dormant days, which can clear a small balance, so withdraw if you stop trading. Ultra Low at 1.1 pips beats Standard at 2.0 pips.
Deriv lists MTN deposits of USD 5 to USD 150 and withdrawals up to USD 750, both instant, along with Vodafone up to USD 1,000. That is the clearest mobile money data we can find. All its licences are offshore, and its table does not split routes by country.
AvaTrade
MinimumUSD 100AvaTrade appears on a widely read Ghana broker list, with structured courses and copy trading through AvaSocial and DupliTrade. Those features suit a learner who wants a guided path. USD 100 is a big first step in cedis, and spreads near 0.93 pips cost more than raw accounts.
Pepperstone
MinimumUSD 10Pepperstone also appears on a widely read Ghana broker list, with Razor at about 0.8 pips all-in on EUR/USD and a USD 10 minimum. No inactivity fee applies. Mobile money did not show up in the data we can read, so a card or Skrill will be your likely first route.
FP Markets
MinimumUSD 0FP Markets rounds out that Ghana list, with Raw ECN at about 0.9 pips all-in on MetaTrader and a USD 0 listed minimum. Its MetaTrader tools are excellent for a cost-focused trader. Skrill and bank wires are the confirmed routes, so mobile money users should check for a local option first.
Forex brokers that accept mobile money in Ghana
Forex brokers accepting mobile money in Ghana are easiest to confirm from a payment table. Deriv lists MTN at about GH₵ 58 to GH₵ 1,750 today, and Vodafone up to USD 1,000.
The table does not split those routes by country, so ask the broker to confirm which wallets work in Ghana.
Vodafone Cash has been rebranded in Ghana, so a table entry may not match the name in your wallet app. Telecel Cash and AirtelTigo Money are often mentioned locally, and we cannot confirm them on broker pages. Trust the screen in your client area over any social media post promising easy MoMo funding.
The cedi amount converts at the broker's rate on arrival. Compare the dollars credited with the mid-market figure in our currency converter, because the conversion often costs more than the spread on a small account. Test with a small amount before sending a larger sum.

Starting with USD 5 or USD 1: minimum deposits in cedis
Starting with USD 5 fits Deriv's MTN route and XM's listed minimum, about GH₵ 58 at today's rate. HFM lists no broker minimum on three accounts, and Pepperstone asks for USD 10. Exness says its figure changes by region and payment method, and AvaTrade lists USD 100.
USD 1 is below every published floor we can confirm for the brokers here. The lowest practical first deposit is whatever your wallet route allows. Any platform promising serious returns from USD 1 should make you suspicious, especially after the SEC's public warnings.
A workable start is closer to USD 50, because a 0.01 lot position with a 20-pip stop risks USD 2. Run your own numbers with the lot size calculator before you place a first trade, and treat anything below that as money set aside for learning.
Cent accounts and MT4 for Ghanaian beginners
Cent accounts and MT4 are a common starting point for Ghanaian beginners who want small positions. Opening an HFM account gives you a Cent option on MT4 and MT5 with spreads from 1.4 pips and no broker minimum. Exness has Standard Cent, and our cent account shortlist compares those options.
MT4 and MT5 are both available at Exness, HFM and XM, though expert advisors written for one need a matching build for the other. Check your tools first.
A demo lets you test the platform on your phone with virtual funds before depositing. Use it to practise setting a stop loss, because that habit protects you most.
Cheapest forex brokers for Ghanaian traders
On EUR/USD, Pepperstone's Razor account costs about 0.8 pips all-in, and FP Markets' Raw ECN about 0.9 pips. XM Ultra Low averages 1.1 pips with no commission, and HFM Zero came to about 1.1 pips in published data. Trading 10 lots a month at 0.8 pips costs USD 80, about GH₵ 930.
For most small Ghanaian accounts, spread is not the largest cost. A 0.01 lot trader paying 1.1 pips spends USD 0.11 per trade, or USD 4.40 on 40 trades a month. Mobile money and exchange-rate costs on a USD 100 deposit can easily pass that, so compare your full cost of getting money in and out.
Is forex trading legal in Ghana?
Forex trading in Ghana sits under two regulators. The SEC requires online investment and trading platforms performing licensed activities to hold its approval, and the Bank of Ghana treats unauthorised online foreign exchange business as a breach of Act 723. Those rules are written for the businesses offering the service.
For a trader, the practical effect is that an unlicensed platform leaves you with no Ghanaian regulator to turn to when a withdrawal stalls. We are not lawyers, so take advice if you plan to trade at scale. Read the SEC's notices for any platform you are considering, and note which foreign company your agreement names.
Keep your balance modest with any offshore broker, since rules here are moving fast and a firm could stop serving Ghana. Trading income can be taxable too, so keep your statements and ask a tax professional how to declare any profits.
Forex scams in Ghana and how to avoid them
Ghana's SEC has warned about unlicensed online investment platforms, and forex is a common cover for them. Warning signs include fixed monthly returns, pressure to recruit friends, and agents collecting money on a personal MoMo line.
A real broker takes deposits through its client area, and it never needs your MoMo PIN. Before you pay anything, look up the company on its regulator's register.
If you sent money by mobile money, contact your provider straight away, as a fast report offers the best chance of a reversal. Then tell the SEC. Our mobile money guide shows how to test a route with USD 5 to USD 10 first.
Forex sessions in Accra time
Accra sits at UTC+0 with no daylight-saving change, so standard session times read almost directly. London opens in the morning and the overlap with New York runs through the afternoon. That gives a Ghanaian trader the most liquid hours during the working day, and the quieter Asian session overnight.
The table shows standard-time hours, and London and New York move an hour earlier in Accra during their daylight-saving periods. Our market hours tool shows the live state in your time zone, and its overlap line helps you plan a short session around your day.
| Session | Opens in Accra | Closes | Day view | What moves |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney | 22:00 | 07:00 | AUD and NZD pairs | |
| Tokyo | 00:00 | 09:00 | JPY pairs, Asian indices | |
| London | 08:00 | 17:00 | EUR, GBP, CHF pairs, gold | |

Forex questions from Ghana
Which forex brokers are licensed in Ghana?
We found no retail forex broker here showing a Ghanaian licence. Read the SEC's public notices, because its June 2026 directive covers online trading platforms, while the central bank keeps a separate annual list of interbank FX brokers.
Is forex trading legal in Ghana?
The SEC requires licensing for online trading platforms performing regulated activities, and the central bank treats unauthorised online forex business as a breach of the Foreign Exchange Act. Those rules target operators, and you lose local recourse with an unlicensed platform.
Which forex broker can I start with USD 5 in Ghana?
Deriv's MTN route starts at USD 5, about GH₵ 58 today, and XM also lists USD 5. HFM lists no broker minimum on three accounts, though your wallet route sets its own floor.
Can I trade forex with USD 1?
We found no USD 1 account among the brokers compared here, and the published payment floors we can confirm start at USD 5. A balance that small cannot hold a position with a stop, so treat any such offer with suspicion.
Which forex brokers accept MTN Mobile Money?
Deriv's payment table lists MTN with a USD 150 deposit ceiling, without splitting it by country. Ask the broker to confirm that the wallet works in Ghana before you sign up, and test with a small first deposit.
Which platform should a Ghanaian beginner use?
MT4 and MT5 are both available at Exness, HFM and XM. HFM's Cent account suits small positions, and a demo lets you test the app first. Most beginners will find MT5 on a phone is enough for their first months.
